How Long Does Arctic Fox Hair Dye Last?

Share With Friends and Family

Buying quality hair dye and applying it the way it should be done, isn’t a big problem. The problem is getting a hair dye that can last for a reasonable period. Quick fading is a hair quality that nobody likes, which is why you must evaluate your hair dyes before using them. In that spirit, how long does Arctic Fox hair dye last?

Arctic Fox hair dyes are among the best in the market, retaining their initial color for at least four weeks after application. After the first four weeks, you may start noticing some fading, but it typically takes up to eight weeks before the dye washes out and becomes unwearable.

Of course, how long the hair dye lasts depends on several factors, including how often you wash your hair, how long you leave the dye on hair before washing it off, what styling tools you use, your maintenance routine, and how much you expose the hair to the sun.

In this post, I will give you the best hair care routine and some tips to help you keep your Arctic Fox hair dye for the longest possible time.

Which Color Of Arctic Fox Hair Dye Lasts the Longest?

The orange, blue, red, and pink color stays bright and vibrant for at least four weeks or more before it starts fading into pastel shade.

Currently, there are over 17+ different colors of Arctic fox dye available at the market (online and offline).

I haven’t tested all the colors on my clients, but the best long-lasting colors I have used are sunset orange (#ad), purple rain (#ad), blue jean baby (#ad), and poison (#ad).

How To Make Arctic Fox Hair Dye Last Longer

The most significant factor that contributes to how long your Arctic Fox hair dye lasts is how you apply and maintain it over time. Here are some application and maintenance tips to make your hair dye last for as long as possible.

1. Wash Hair Clean With Shampoo Before Application

It’s recommended to apply Arctic Fox dyes after a clean shampoo wash, but before applying hair cream or conditioner to ensure the dye’s longevity.

Applying the dye after the shampoo ensures you rid your hair of residue and natural build-up, and applying hair cream afterward is necessary to avoid applying dye on sealed hair.

2. Leave Hair Dye On Hair For At Least 15-60 Minutes

The Arctic Fox application guide recommends letting it sit on your hair for at least 60 minutes before rinsing for a correct hair color transformation.

Always remember to do a patch test or strand test to see how you or your hair reacts to it; this is if you haven’t used arctic fox hair dye before.

3. Wash With Cold Water

You may have heard this piece of advice before, but that only goes further to prove how essential it is. While it may be tempting to have a hot or warm wash after applying hair dye, the heat from the water will only kickstart the fading process; so, cold water is much safer.

4. Don’t Wash Hair Frequently

If you want to retain the color for a long period, wash your hair twice or thrice at most a week. Some users of Artic Fox hair dye in my forum confirmed that washing their hair two times weekly after applying dye made their hair retain its bright color for as long as three weeks.

5. Avoid Incompatible Hair Creams and Products

Some hair products are incompatible with hair dyes in general, or the Arctic Fox hair dye in particular. Before introducing any new hair care products to your hair, it’s essential to check if there are any warnings against using them with hair dye.

An example of products incompatible with colored hair is clarifying shampoo, as it’s known to also wash off your hair color. Also, always mention your hair color when buying products for your hair to avoid buying something that won’t work.

6. Minimize The Use Of Heat Tools

Hairstyling tools that use heat can gradually fade off your hair’s color, and since the procedure is gradual, you may not notice it until your hair has lost most of its color and it’s too late.

If you must use heat tools, consider limiting their use to when you absolutely need them, and even then, you’ll have to accept that it will have a considerable impact on how long your hair lasts.

7. Dye Your Hair Again

The commonsense last resort when your dyed hair fades too much to be wearable is applying another coat of dye. You shouldn’t worry if the period between you applying the dye and the color fading out is more than four weeks; that’s a relatively normal lifespan for Arctic Fox hair dye.

How Many Boxes of Arctic Fox Do I Need?

The answer to this question depends on your hair’s length and volume. According to Arctic Fox, the smaller 4-ounce bottle should be sufficient for averagely thick hair of around shoulder length, which is closer to what most ladies will ever need.

However, if your hair is any thicker or longer, you may have to get one of Arctic Fox’s unique 8-ounce bottles, as they contain just enough for any hair length. Unless you’re Xie Quiping, that should be more than sufficient.

“I would use Pravana again, but honestly, I love using Arctic Fox the most: the color is true, lasts a long time, fades nicely, smells great, and doesn’t break the bank.”- Reddit User

“I chose Arctic Fox because it’s vegan and seemed to get great reviews elsewhere. I was not disappointed. So far I’ve had this color in my hair for about 3 weeks, and I’ve washed my hair a few times.”- L. Rose on Amazon

“My daughter has dark blonde/ light brown hair. I don’t want to bleach her hair at her age so we tried this. It smells good….turned out good for the color of hair she already had. She is happy.”- QandR on Amazon

  1. Does Artic Fox dye ever come out completely without having to cut your hair or does it stain? If I dye my virgin hair will my natural color come back without having to cut it?

    1. Hello Lily,

Arctic fox hair dye is chemically made, if applied to your hair, it automatically alters your hair color.

It stains, only if you don’t apply well. YouTube videos can be helpful for step by step instructions you need.

To be honest, your hair color won’t be same as it was before you colored it.

  2. Question,
My hair was dyed a couple of shades of purple and is now fading into different shades as well. My question is if I only re dye my hair with purple rain will it maintain the depth of the different shades or will it all turn out the same color? Sorry it’s kind of a confusing question. Hope I relayed it well. Thanks

    1. If I could understand you, you said it’s already fading right?

Of course, if you re-dye your hair with the purple rain am not sure it would maintain the depth of different shade.

Most times, how some dye reacts depend on the type of hair and the depth of shades, but since it’s fading as you said, It would come out fresh and plain as long as you leave the dye on hair for the recommended time.

Honestly, I would say your question is a bit tricky and confusing as well.

Thanks for your time, I really appreciate your comment.

  3. This article says arcticfox only lasts 3 weeks before it fades, that is a lie. I used virgin pink & 3 months later it has faded very little! The only part of my hair that is different is where my new growth has come in.

    1. Hi Terri,

Seems there’s misunderstanding in the way you read the sentence.

Please do note that there’s difference between “artic fox last for 3 weeks and fades”

      Vs

“Artic fox hair dye can last for as long as 3-4 weeks before it starts fading”

The later is a clear estimate and the least number of weeks the hair dye can last on your hair before it starts fading.

I appreciate your time to leave a comment and feedback.

And am also happy the dye lasted on your hair for that long.

      Cheers.
