So in today’s post, I would be sharing with you the common habits of women who grow long natural hair.

I know you are wondering where I got all these reports. Well, I belong to one of the largest Facebook groups for natural hair ladies.

With the aid of my membership and profile as a stylist, I was able to ask some necessary questions and what you are about to read is a summary derived from over 30 women with long natural hair.

Although most of these ladies do not have all the habits listed here, on average, they possess at least 6-7 habits you see here.

So without wasting much of your time.

Here are the habits of women who grow long natural hair.

1. They Protect Their Hair at Night

Protecting hair at night is one of the simplest things that some ladies fail to do most times. Maybe because of the stress and tiredness from the long day job.

But is that enough reason not to prep your hair before you sleep?

All the ladies I had the opportunity to discuss their hair growth secret always do this at night. And according to what they said, experience and research, I must tell you that protecting your hair at night for sleep is super important.

Why is it important?

Literally, sleeping with long hair just like that can wreck almost everything; for example, the hair would become frizzy and tangled and many more.

In some cases, the sleeping position at night can add pressure to the hair and, in the end, cause breakage.

So if you want to grow your hair long, this is something you must do 364 days of every year with long hair.

Remember that your hair isn’t growing fast because the amount and length of breakage are much higher than growth.

PRO TIP: If you want a mineral and vitamin enriched hair care system that promote and supports insane hair growth, this magic products would be a perfect choice.

One last thing, while prepping their hair for the night, avoid elastic bands because it does more harm than good.

Instead, they park their hair in ponytail bun or knot style then secure fabric scrunches. These Ladies also do overnight treatments on their hair and cover their hair with good wraps or bonnet and use soft silk or satin pillowcase.

Before we move to the next one, don’t forget to read this post on how to grow hair with fermented rice water.

2. Wash Hair Often, But Not Always

The second common habit of these women with long natural hair is that they wash their hair when needed. They wouldn’t want to wait for itching signs or someone to tell them that their hair or scalp needs washing before they do so.

When I say Washing hair, I mean washing with the right products. And when I say often, it’s not like everyday stuff.

Most women know the best for their hair. Some are very comfortable washing their hair once a week, while some find it cool to wash twice or thrice a week.

How often you wash your hair depends on:

  • Types of hair products you use and how much you use them.
  • How much oil your scalp produces and how much your hair absorbs
  • How quickly your hair gets dirty with oil and build-ups.

So you have to find out how your hair wants the washing, but no matter what, this is something you must often do.

3. Play Safe with Heat Styling

Most of them use a hairdryer to dry hair after washing. But let me tell you something, you see, these ladies are cautious and creative with how often and how they use heat styling tools, especially the blow dryer.

They don’t use this often, but when something caught up with them, or they are in a hurry, they remember where they kept their dryer.

If you are looking for a perfect blow dryer for natural hair, I recommend this blow dryer for your natural hair.

If you got enough time to wait for your hair to naturally air-dry, then that’s the best.

4. They run away from wrong products

Using the wrong products for natural hair is the beginning of daylight nightmares. They would cause your hair to break, create heavy build-ups that would probably result in an itchy scalp and dandruff.

Their many things wrong products can do to your hair; the few I mentioned alone are enough to convince you that you need to worry and be careful about the brand and content of hair products you use.

In summary, women with long hair run as fast as they can away from the wrong products, of course, I expect you to same.

5. They Play Attention to How & How Often they Manipulate their hair

Frequent intensive hair manipulation is one of the main reasons some ladies ‘ hair doesn’t grow- because they’re unknowingly losing more hair than they grow.

When you lose more than you gain, I don’t need to tell you what happens. If you are wondering what I mean by manipulation, it’s simple.

This is how often you style your hair, the hairstyle, using too many products that could cause build-ups, weigh down the hair, and lots more.

Naturally, a very tight hairstyle is not good for your hair and edges. And I see most ladies do these because they probably want to look gorgeous and make the hairstyle last longer as well.

Sorry to break your heart today, sweetheart; the bad of doing these weigh heavier than the good.

Now I believe you know what’s best for you and your hair, and my final thoughts on this would always be to do what is right.

If you love hair mask treatment, I am sure you need to see my post on how often you should do a hair mask treatment.

6. They’re Always Hydrated

Drinking water has a long way to go. It’s not just for the body, the system, and the skin; your hair needs it as well, directly and indirectly.

I read a post from StyleCraze saying something relating to hair growth and water; here’s the link if you want to check it out.

So women who grow gorgeous long hair maintain the habit of drinking water to stay hydrated. If you cannot keep up getting water now and then, I recommend getting and keeping this lightweight water flask.

7. They Trim Split End Without Hesitation

The hair ends one of the major areas where hair breakage and hair damage starts because it is the most exposed, fragile, and vulnerable part of the hair.

When hair splits, if left untouched, the hair would continue to split downwards towards the hair shaft, thereby rendering the strand damaged or useless.

When hair-splitting starts initially, it won’t be noticed, but when it starts to spread around the hair, you start noticing its frizzy and unhealthy appearance.

So when you notice split ends, all you have to do is trim off the ends, which should be done without hesitation.

If you’re timing the ends yourself, be sure to use very sharp scissors and leave a clean cut so the hair won’t split or fray again quickly and easily.

However, note that you can extend how often you trim your split ends by taking good and proper care of your hair. Because the more often you trim your hair, the more you lose your hair.

8. They Avoid Hair Routine Mistakes

I agree with you that nobody is above mistakes, but I bet you that mistakes can be easily avoided if caution and carefulness are in place.

Certain simple mistakes you think don’t matter matters a lot. Believe it or not.

Mistakes like applying products at your roots, skipping hair wash after visiting the swimming pool, using the wrong brush, and lots more.

Stylecraze wrote a post on 16 hair mistakes ladies make often; I am sure you need to read this. And if you need proper guidance to help you maintain a stunning hair routine, then you need to read this book.

Also, make sure you read my reviews of one of the best hair growth products; if you don’t have that time, you can buy the product, use it, and thank me later.

9. They Eat Nutrient-Rich Foods

Yeah, the last habit of women who have long hair is eating mineral and nutrient-rich foods. The food we take in has some real crucial; role in every part of the human body, even the dead parts.

I can’t emphasize this any more than this.

Eat well, and everything in your system will flourish in your favor.

I wouldn’t want to stop writing, but I really have to drop my pen here. It’s now your turn to figure what works for you by copying others who have succeeded and achieved what you desire.
